Traveller RPG: ASINIE is Red Zone for a Reason

  1. When do you use recon checks in your games?

    1. It depends on what's being role-played. Did you have a particular situation in mind?

    2. I'm being purposefully vague here because I think my GM made a terrible call. :) If you require further details I suppose I could share them, but just let me know.

    3. I could make a video about recon checks in Traveller, if you like. I do not just use them like D&D players do with their perception rolls.

  2. That would be great. I would watch it. It's work, though, so no pressure. :)

  3. Also as long as you're doing bespoke videos (sorry), what do you mean when you say theme vs. setting?

    1. I can do a quick vid on that. Or, if you prefer, we can do a LIVE stream together on YouTube where we can chit-chat about our styles of role-playing. I'm sure we'd have questions to ask each other about.

    2. I don't actually know if I can get my laptop's webcam to work, perhaps a physical problem with it (windows 10, maybe disconnected somehow, recently). Regardless, though, no. Primarily interested in the recon thing, as a dictionary search should help me figure out theme vs setting if required.

  4. I want to actually be a somewhat successful GM before I consider posting videos, etc. Currently, as a player, I'm just trying to avoid the "Mother, May I" thing. It's interesting, but it'll require several more sessions before I can give a reasonable report about the effects of trying to, you know, role play. :)

  5. Hey man, very much appreciated on the video. I like the James Bond example, but I also like that you defined it for those of us (me) who haven't watched a ton of that recently. :)

  6. I feel like you deleted (not sure) my comment about math.pi and importlib.reimport, based on an old video of yours. In any case, if not, there it is, and if so, no worries.

Also, thanks for the video on theme! Good catch on tone and scope. Setting I feel like I get. :) But good video man, thank you.

Do you find making a video is easier than making a text post? I find I do a ton of editing on text posts and I hate not being able to lol (as on this blog, but whatever). I don't know that I could produce anything that I would be comfortable communicating without significant editing. Then again, obviously life is unedited (I type as I delete and rearrange words...).

If you have any links to you doing an "actual play" that would be cool to see.

Re the importlib thing I'm obviously digging through your "old" videos, meaning in this case, maybe a month? I don't know. :)

  7. https://alexschroeder.ch/wiki/Halberts

You might like this. It's a 2d6 fantasy game, 16 pages. I don't know much about it other than that, but the designer seems like he appreciates simple systems and Classic Traveller.
