Roll for Sanity: What Product are They Selling Here?

  1. Have you shared your NPC/PC generator for traveller on github? I see the NPC Lite thing, which I believe is well documented, but I don't see anything similar to what's in your recent videos.

    1. If it's not on my GitHub then it's proprietary stuff that won't run on other people's computers.

  2. Tech question if that's ok. I run windows 10 and sumatra pdf. Whenever I open sumatra it fills my quick access links in windows explorer with the pdfs that it opens on load, which can be a pain if there are a lot of them and I want to browse to open else. I notice you have a ton of files open in your pdf reader.

Anyways, if you know a good way of dealing with this (if this is something that you care about and have addressed) then that's awesome, and if not, then I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. :)

    1. I don't ever use Quick Access to open files. I open maybe 60-70 files a day on my computer. So the Quick Access folder is always filled with 20 most recent files. That does sound annoying though.

  3. RPG question. I'm really struggling to make a character. Specifically I tend to play pragmatically, min/maxing character, but more importantly, engaging with the setting in a pragmatic way to "win". Seeing your videos, I want to actually roleplay, but I'm not sure what makes a great character or how to make one myself.

I watch Mr. In Between, I've read Dune, and I have an average exposure to literature. I've read the Dumarest series, but I wouldn't necessarily say that he's a great character (it's pulp sci-fi and he's a man of action but that's about it). I'm currently reading Treasure Island (and it's great). I don't feel like "read a book" or "watch a movie" is sufficient advice, but it might be. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

    1. One day, we will do a LIVE stream together and talk about how to go about making a great character.

  4. Amos from The Expanse is a favourite character of mine. I think he's a sociopath, but he's compelling. I guess that I could pick any number of characters from Mr. In Between, or Treasure Island for that matter. Character gen itself tends to get in the way of this. I play, these days, exclusively CT, preferring the 1977 rules but unfortunately only 1981 is being run by others.

I guess another question, why do you think that the CT77 characters, with limited skills, are bad to play? IMO, each of the skills at level 1 represents a huge amount of competency (based on the skill descriptions, with medic 1 being incongruous) and you don't really need much in the way of character skills to play RPGs...

    1. Again. A LIVE stream together will answer most of those questions.

  5. Are you fine talking to a black screen or do I need to go buy a webcam?

  6. Building content for the talk: can you roleplay on a railroad (structure) (game structure, not a bridge).

Careful re:that word. I saw it on Letterman.

  8. Webcam is on its way. Hopefully it won't suck. An interesting thing (via youtube video) is that the same web cam will produce different pictures on different computers, sometimes. I can't explain how that's true, but given that I'm on a laptop my hopes aren't super high. Would love to be wrong, though.
I don't know how to contact you.

    1. The thing is, it's a large project and if you keep it in beta the PSF may delete your programming language again before you finish it. :(
